Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Vocal

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Vocal is a comprehensive programme designed to develop theoretical knowledge and practical proficiency in Indian Classical Music. The curriculum covers Indian music theory, history of music, ragas, taals, notation systems, gharana traditions, folk music, Western music, stage performance and research-based studies. Through rigorous practical training and performance-oriented learning, students cultivate artistic expression, musical creativity and professional competence for careers in performance, teaching, cultural institutions and advanced studies in music.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Vocal must fulfill the eligibility requirements prescribed by the College and the University.

Minimum Eligibility

  • ✓ Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
  • ✓ Students with prior knowledge or interest in Music are encouraged to apply.
  • ✓ The programme is open to eligible students as per University admission regulations.
  • ✓ Admission shall be granted according to the rules and norms of the affiliating University.
  • ✓ Reservation and relaxation in eligibility shall be applicable as per Government and University guidelines.

Programme Regulations

Attendance Requirements

  • Students must maintain the minimum attendance prescribed by the University.
  • Regular participation in theory classes, practical sessions, rehearsals and musical activities is mandatory.
  • Attendance shortages may affect eligibility for examinations, practical tests and stage performances.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Evaluation includes internal assessment, practical performance and end-semester examinations.
  • Assignments, recitals, presentations, viva voce and project work may form part of continuous assessment.
  • Students must fulfill all university examination requirements for successful completion of the programme.

Practical Training & Performance

  • Active participation in vocal practice, stage performances, workshops and cultural programmes is encouraged.
  • Students are expected to maintain regular riyaaz and demonstrate progressive improvement in performance skills.
  • Practical training in ragas, taals, compositions and performance techniques forms an integral part of the curriculum.

Progression & Completion

  • Students must successfully complete all prescribed theory, practical and project requirements.
  • Promotion to subsequent semesters shall be governed by university regulations.
  • The degree will be awarded upon successful completion of all programme requirements.
